Action message

The following is a message from Mike Diamond/Shirley Anne Haber, relayed via e-mail. The message applies to our Canadian readers in particular, but not exclusively to them, since the CBC is also viewed in the US.

As I indicated in a previous message, the DEBATE BETWEEN NORMAN SPECTOR AND TONY BURMAN WILL PROCEED on CBCTV morning show called "CBC News: Sunday" between 10 am and 12:00 noon on January 19, 2003 - next Sunday. HOWEVER, it appears that Mr. Burman would like to limit the debate to 12 to 15 minutes.

It is important to write to CBC stating that we are looking forward to this debate, however, it is important that CBC allow enough time to properly explore the issues. At least 30 minutes should be allowed.
NOTE from Ed: 12-15 minutes can be manipulated. I am convinced this debate will be manipulated in such a way as to make it impossible for Norman Spector to get the truth out. Pressure needs to be put on the CBC to extend the time availability- and if they leave it too short, at least all of us who have written can point to that as being a manipulation when following up.

SAMPLE LETTER: (please use your own words)

I am pleased to see that Mr. Burman has accepted Mr. Spector's challenge to publicly debate the CBC's failure to use the term 'terrorism' when reporting suicide bombings in Israel.
I respectfully would like to request that this debate go ahead next Sunday, January 19, 2003, as planned and that at minimum a full 30 minutes be allocated to ensure a full discussion of the issues.

Thank you.
