Jonathan Pollard's continued incarceration is a grave injustice. He is now in his 18th year of a life sentence. His sentence and his time served are far out of proportion to his crime and far greater than any other person convicted of the same or similar crimes. We are obliged to speak up for him, again and again, if necessary. He includes a copy of the letter he wrote and asks if you have time please send your own letter to the same recipients.

Dear Mr. President:Please find the time to support Jonathan Pollard.
I write to respectfully request your attention to a considerable injustice.
Jonathan Pollard is serving a life sentence for spying for a US ally, a grossly disproportionate sentence. He is now in his 18th year of incarceration. The median sentence for this offense is 2 to 4 years.
Why is he still in jail?
Pollard is the only American spy ever given a life sentence for spying for an ally, Israel, a close friend of the US. He was never convicted of treason and no individual suffered as a direct result of his Actions. Yet he has received and served a far harsher sentence than most who have spied for enemy nations, including the USSR, even during the Cold War period.
His treatment has been worse than that of Aldrich Ames who spied for Russia and was convicted of treason and whose crimes cost the lives of at least 11 US agents.
While his actions were detrimental to the US, Jonathan Pollard deserves the same justice availabe to all Americans.
Please free Jonathan Pollard Mr. President. His continued incarceration, far out of proportion to the gravity of his crimes, is a large and visible stain on an otherwise widely respected American system of justice.
Respectfully
